Tile countertops are an alternative if you’re remodeling your countertops either in your kitchen or in the bathroom. It will give your room a look of unpretentious natural beauty. Use tiles for your countertop and your backsplash. Tile countertops can take abuse from hot pans, and are easy to clean - you also have a wide array of choices in terms of textures, design, price and colors. There are a few drawbacks however - the grout lines can become dirty, tiles can chip or crack, and custom designed tiles which give your kitchen or bathroom that exclusive look can be expensive.
A tiled countertop in your bathroom or kitchen is durable and can take abuse, but keeping the grout clean is essential in order for the countertop to look its best. You can use a homemade countertop cleaner that will quickly remove dirt and is inexpensive to make. Mix 1/2 a cup of vinegar, 1 cup of ammonia, and 1/4 cup of baking soda in a gallon of hot water. Apply this mixture to the countertop using a sponge, rinse with water and buff to get the best results. Remember to wear rubber gloves when making this mixture and work in a well ventilated area when cleaning with the solution as it tends to be powerful.
